Re:  Kieninger vs. Kieninger

Dear Mr. Raysa:

Attached is an affidavit which contains information in response to your request of September 2, 1975, on the case referred to above. Since receipt of your letter, I have read the transcript of the last court hearing on the case in which the judge referred several times to the possibility of issuing a subpoena for The Stelle Group books and records. Because of the transcript, I have agreed to provide you with the affidavit you requested. I trust it will avoid the necessity of the court issuing a subpoena. I personally regret that The Stelle Group is being drawn into the case in any manner.

Sincerely,

Malcolm R. Carnahan

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

MALCOLM R. CARNAHAN, being duly sworn, on oath deposes and states as follows:

1. That I am the President of The Stelle Group, an Illinois not-for-profit corporation, located at Stelle, Illinois.

2. Mrs. Gail Kieninger has served The Stelle Group in the capacity of Vice President of the Board of Trustees, Voting Trustee of Stelle Industries, Inc., Director of the Department of Education, Director of Admissions, and various other lesser duties up until, and at least one year prior to, August 12, 1975, on which date she resigned from the positions of Trustee of The Stelle Group, Voting Trustee of Stelle Industries, Inc., and Director of the Department of Education. She retained the responsibility for Admissions and other duties such as conducting the Public Meeting the first Sunday of each month, teaching Orientation classes, a citizenship training course, handling correspondence to persons interested in The Stelle Group, and coordinating the Home Economics program. Around the 2nd of September, she resigned from responsibility for the Public Meeting and teaching Orientation. As of September 18th, she chose not to serve as a candidate for election in Admissions. At the present time, her only remaining responsibility is for the Home Economics program.

3.  Financial assistance paid to Mrs. Gail Kieninger for the above services is as follows:

A.  She received $3,510 salary from February 1, 1975 through July 31, 1975. (Since The Stelle Group owns the home in which she lives and the residence serves as a parsonage or manse for The Stelle Group, the above salary, which equals $585 per month, included $150 per month housing allowance and $53 a month toward utilities.) A copy of the Employee Time Summary and Payroll Report and of the check is attached.

B.   Since August 1, 1975, Mrs. Kieninger is not receiving a salary from The Stelle Group. However, since her residence is the parsonage or manse of The Stelle Group, The Stelle Group continues to pay for the rent and utilities, which amounts to about $220 per month.

Dated, this 23rd day of September, 1975.
