Could You Talk on Western Mysticism, Alistair Crowley, and Gurdgieff?

Q:      Could you talk on Western mysticism like Alistair Crowley, Gurdgieff, and some of the Western schools and maybe why they aren’t practiced more for potential development?

RK:    Goethe picked up most of his information from people who we might call Eastern philosophies or involved with Eastern Philosophies. I think he had a value in turning around some of these concepts so that they would be more understandable by typical Western  thinkers. I think that was his biggest contribution. Actually he posed more questions than he answered, but, at the same time, it is kind of nice to consider some of these things and try find an answer to them. In many cases you do, but in some cases you don’t. He got another lifetime later on so…

Alistair Crowley, I think, is probably one of the foremost exponents of evil in the world. There are some things which are factual that he talks about: things like witchcraft and sorcery are very real. But, just because they are real does not necessarily mean that you should do them because it is possible. There is a morality that says a person should not interfere with another person’s environment in any way. He encouraged people to get involved with spirit entities which, in many cases, he would promote as being beneficial, but really were nether types with lower Astral influences. Alistair Crowley gave a bad name to metaphysics in the West and it has taken a long time to overcome the prejudice of that. That is just one person. There are many other people who have offered quite a few valuable things.

Q: He was the primary figure, I think, who had the highest amount of knowledge in some circles as just about anyone.

RK:    Unfortunately, he worked for the other side. But, as I say, the things he had to talk about were factual, but he emphasized the negative side of that.

Q:      Why do you say that he emphasized the negative side of that? From most of what I have read, he just tells you what is out there. He is telling you to use if for good or bad and actually seems to be telling you to use it for good, but there is a negative side. I would think that would be up to the individual who is using it whether it is used for positive or negative.

RK:    This is true, but I fault him for not giving forewarning as to what a person could get into. “Try it out and see what happens” and then when the individual finds out it is too late they can’t back out of the relationship with a nether entity because they do not have the personal strength to extract themselves from that kind of mental control from the other side.

Most of us are not real good hypnotists mainly because we do not really believe our ability to have much influence over another person. But, entities who are no longer incarnate are fully aware of what their mental powers are and use them quite freely. Of course, they cannot just contact anybody they want anytime to try to influence them in some negative or evil way because of the protection that Christ setup two-thousand years ago. But, if an individual chooses to overcome that protection—does it on his own—then Christ is obligated not to interfere with that person’s freewill. So the powers that work with Christ that help maintain that screen that protects people who are incarnate from these entities operating from the lower Astral Plane then has to be dropped for that individual while he seeks to work with that.

I am afraid there are a lot of people who ended up in insane asylums either obsessed or possessed as a result of that and not being sophisticated enough or given sufficient forewarning to be discriminating in what it was that they were getting into. Most nether entities will present themselves as being Christ unless the person is getting into devil-worship or witchcraft in which event they present themselves as being the objects they are tying to find. The next person they deal with they may present themselves as the Christ or the Archangel Gabriel or somebody. There are all kinds of ways a person can get ensnared because they do not know how to discriminate. (04-1982)
