Awareness A question asked was: Is the mind separate from the Ego, part of the Egoic equipment, or are the terms synonymous? Richard said that the Ego is mind—a discrete bundle created by God and endowed with certain aspects known as mental powers. The Ego, or mind, progresses by building a soul, which is the sum total of knowledge gained through all the experiences of an Ego’s existence. In regard to a comparison of the definitions of the words “awareness” and “consciousness,” Richard said that he was inclined to term awareness an extension of the power of consciousness. However, words have the definitions we assign them and do not necessarily convey the actuality of the concept which they purport to describe. There are things which cannot be understood through any description by words, but which an individual must come to understand personally.
