School Highlights
1986 was a very exciting and stimulating
year for both our students and teachers. The highlights include:
·
The Stelle Learning Center
in Stelle was one of eight private schools in the nation to win an award for
excellence from the Alliance
for Invitational Education.
·
The Stelle
Learning Center
added a special four-week program called “Learning to Love Learning” which
was developed to provide children who would not normally be able to attend
our school to experience some of its advantages during their summer vacation.
Twenty-six children participated in this program including new students.
·
While continuing its ongoing programs, Motherschool
developed several new programs in 1986 including a correspondence course which will be available in 1987.
·
The Stelle School in Dallas
provided a two-week program to study Marine Biology and Oceanography along
the Texas Gulf Coast
in conjunction with two Texas Universities which
allowed the students to participate in the field research.
·
The summer term focused on the Industrial Revolution and
High Technology and was highlighted by a trip to the McDonald Observatory in
SW Texas where the students got to operate a 107-inch
reflector telescope, one of the largest in the US.
·
The Stelle
School offered a new
home-school program wherein the school provides a curriculum, the student
comes to school twice a week, and the rest of the week
the student carries out his assignments at home.
