How Do People Grow in Stelle? Question: I
have heard you mention that people really grow when they become Stelle
members. Can you elaborate on this? Answer: First of all, the growth is different for each person
because it depends upon what each puts into it. Members find a reason to
improve themselves which they may not have had before
and the whole atmosphere of The Stelle Group is conducive to the combining of
many kinds of experiences which members haven’t had before. They have to face
up to realities in order to achieve a definite goal. A student may know about
several subjects yet not fully understand them or their interrelationships
until he has to produce an exposition on them. Stelle Group members are
similarly required to put together many things they had not thought about previously.
They are made aware of not only the importance of
knowing certain subjects, but how emotions are involved in all of this. They
must learn how to become more efficient by eliminating fixations and
emotional problems. Members are assigned
to the field on weekends to work construction and must work well in very
close co-ordination with other people. They must understand, many for the
first time, the essential need for authority to co-ordinate things. You must
have one foreman so that everyone is doing the right
thing in the right order; otherwise the work would be quite ineffectual. People coming into The Stelle Group are being
measured or judged by the Brotherhoods. This helps
them realize that they must do things in a certain framework and in a certain
way so they may organize themselves better emotionally and mentally. After a while you begin to feel quite effectual. You have seen
others do something that you admire and soon you, too, are doing it. All of the various aspects of building a city
and a new civilization are forcing Stelle members to put into practical
motion ideas and practices they might not have throughout the rest of their
lives outside The Stelle Group. All of this creates a high level of self-esteem
for the members because they find they can do everything required of them. (09-1972) |
