Does Self-Esteem Affect Your Reality?

Question:     What part do you feel your sell-image plays in reality?

Richard:       That is the core of your reality. You are what you think you are. No matter how hard you try, you can’t be anything to yourself other than what your own thoughts have led you to believe of yourself.

Question:     How can you change your sell-image?

Richard:       This is a very real problem to many people. Some think that they are so unworthy that the only thing to do is kill themselves. It is a truism that the person who cannot love himself cannot love another or receive the love of another. He can be raised in an atmosphere that gives nothing but love; yet because he feels unworthy he cannot receive that love. It is easy to tell yourself that you should upgrade your self image, but it is a difficult thing to do. Some people are so warped by the way they have been raised that they can never appreciate themselves as being worthy; and because it is human nature to view others as we view ourselves, they will hate others only because they hate themselves. Love is a power which comes from the seventh Plane of Existence. Human beings are foci of this divine Love. We are like magnets that can direct and concentrate the flow of love which circulates through the Universe from God. Love makes us grow, and we can direct it toward another human being.

The simplest way to improve your self-image is to work and do something so well that other people will admire you for it, and you can say that you are a man among men because you are useful and skilled. When you learn to do something well, then you can rightfully say, “I am needed, people appreciate what I can do; therefore I am worthy to be here, and my justification for existence is assured.” That is a beginning. What also plays a big role in having self-esteem is the way your parents raised you. (04-1973)
