Is Reality an Attitude? Question: Isn’t
reality then, nothing more than an attitude? Richard: Yes,
your reality is an attitude. But there is an ultimate reality despite our
opinions. Masters have a good grasp of the ultimate reality. Sometimes we may
think that a Master’s view of looking at something is pretty bizarre or
strange, but He is looking at things like they really are. Yet He usually has
to respond outwardly in the socially accepted way wherever he happens to be
in the world so that he is not looked upon as being too weird. As I have
said, the Brotherhoods have garnered many of these realities and have passed
them on to people, but that does not mean that Christians are ready to accept
these realities or that lesser civilizations will accept them. Indeed, they
will accept untruths that seem rational and reasonable to them but reject
some of the ultimate truths bee wise they are either too harsh or too
different. So reality is a hard thing to be persuaded of. However, as long as
one is not dealing with reality, but rather with his views of what it is, he
is indeed making insane responses although they may be reasonable and
rational based on what information he believes. Within the framework of how
he views things, he is making rational decisions; but it is like a computer —
you put garbage in, you get garbage out. If you feel it wrong information, it
puts out wrong answers. And that is the position most of us are in, making
insane responses to situations which arise in our environment based on what
our view of what reality is.
