Is There a Karmic
Debt for Answered Prayers? Q: I recall you saying once that in asking
for something through prayer, and the person receives some assistance or
whatever as a result of the prayer, there is also a karmic debit there. Can
that be a consideration in— RK: Yes. The only one that does not have some
karmic debt involved is the prayer for protection against influence against
negative entities. Q: Is that an important consideration?
Should a person wait before “going down a third time” before hollering for
help? RK: When you are in a life or death type
situation you should get your call out as soon as possible. You might have to
save somebody on later in your life— Q: That does not occur very often— RK: No, it does not. To say, “I would rather
drown than get some negative karma,” that is not good thinking. Q: … to get that like could be very
pleasant. RK: Yes. Right. You might be wet, but— Q: What about instances like when Dr. White
when he said, “Why have you been struggling and struggling and not been
praying for help? You have forgotten us” I get confused about this sometimes
because I am also under the impression that we should try to do everything
possible for ourselves before we turn to the Higher Beings. So, I will go
along and struggle and struggle until I am wiped out before I finally ask for
help. RK: Help might come as a clue. Q: Do I have to pay karma for that clue? RK: Maybe. Just a little bit. Q: So maybe if we—is it necessary to wear
ourselves out so long before—apparently, Dr. White wondered why you didn’t
ask for help sooner. RK: Yes, because I was spirally down into more
and more negative thinking. I could not get out of my negative thoughts. I
had lost my business. This was not going right and that was not going right
and things were not progressing. I was not learning what I thought I should
learn. Q: Were you married then? RK: Yes. I was married to Dorothy. Q: So maybe we should ask for help sooner
than we do sometimes? RK: Remember that it is available and people
really do want to help from the Higher Levels. Q: And not worry about the karma involved
in that? RK: Right. Q: I don’t think it is ??? right that we
don’t really … sometimes RK: Well, that could be another thing, too.
That leads to a whole series of compulsive down-spirals to think I am not
worth, I am not worthy. Then you start to feeling that you should be punished
and you start punishing yourself pretty quick. Q: Could you say the Lord’s Prayer;
everyday you sort of include that Prayer of Protection? RK: Yes, that is true. But, we still have the
right for a personal decision to think in a direction that we want to think
in, if we want to pursue the negative to its ultimate conclusion you are
allowed to do that. It takes a long time to work your way back up the spiral
again. Q: I just wanted to remind that Christ
himself bade us to pray the Lord’s Prayer every day. RK: He did, indeed. Q: So by praying, we are giving the Higher
Beings permission to interfere? RK: Yes. Right. You may deserve a lot worse
than what we are getting. We can never be sure what Their interference may
be. They might pull out another plug that was just barely propping you up
because it is now time for you to go through something that you did to
somebody else at another time. But, think normally in the direction of, “I
need help.” Sometimes it is nice to literally talk to Higher Beings because
you can work out some of your problems. When you can sort out what the
questions should be the answer is a lot easier coming and understand and
therefore accept it easier. I am talking about the positive directions that
you should go. So, They do want to help. There is a limit as to how much They
can help. But, They can usually do something. If nothing else, have you tune
into the right radio or television program or come across the right book or
something to lift you out of whatever your situation it gives you hope to
move forward. Q: You mean you can help to give thanks
since you cannot be sure who took your case on? RK: I would not worry about it. I would thank
God. It will get around who is supposed to get it. That really is about all
They can work for is your thanks. They appreciate the fact that you
understand that you were helped and you were appreciative of what They did.
That is all we can do for Them. We cannot give them gold or silver or money
or power. That is not a thing that They need or want. Q: Well, how do we know what They did and
what you did? How do you separate it? RK: You do not. But, you know, you can worry
yourself over what was this and what was that to the point that you are
inoperative. It is like the centipede who was asked, by one of the other
insects, “How do you know of all of those feet which one to move first?” Then
he started thinking about it then he could not move. Q: Is it a good idea to make the request as
specific as possible? What I was thinking about was that if you make it as
clear in your own mind what you need or, at least what you think you need,
perhaps that process is a good psychological move? RK: It is. It is not always the right thing to
do. Because, as you said, you might think that is what you need, but at least
it gets you to the point where—a jumping off spot—They lead you in a
different by way of things They bring into your environment so that you can
see different alternatives. |
