What Was the Purpose of Your Ceremony? Question: What
was the purpose of the ceremony that you went through? Answer: After
l received my name from Dr. White and experienced the little ceremony that accompanied
it, I realized this kept me from dismissing all of the things that Dr. White
had told me as just being words from a very nice old man. The fact that he
knew my name and could identify me led me to believe that he was a friend of
my grandfather’s who enjoyed telling me his personal philosophy. That was
very nice, but I didn’t believe all of what he told me anyway. What really
stopped me was when he disappeared, for that I could not dismiss! I also
could not dismiss the heavy oil he poured. I suspect that had he not
disappeared and conducted the ceremony I might have just dismissed the entire
