Is There Negative Karma for Defending Your Life? Question: I
cannot understand how your group can condone any sort of violence even if it
is in defense of your life. Answer: Another
person does not have the right to take your life nor do you have the right to
take his life. But, if a person comes up to you and threatens to kill you,
you have two choices; either prevent him from doing so by either running away
or stopping him in some manner, or you can let him kill you. If someone
approaches you or your loved ones with intent to harm you, you may say, “Be
my guest,” or you may react automatically in a violent manner due to those
instincts that are built into us. The Angels have so designed us that we
become extremely charged up with adrenalin so that we can respond with
amazing strength when we face danger. Now, if we have the opportunity to stop
the person by any means other than by killing him, then it is our obligation
to do so. (03-1974) |
