Is Karma Incurred By Helping Your Friends? Question: If
you help or give things to your friends, are they incurring a Karmic
indebtedness? Answer: Yes,
however, giving of gifts or services to friends without expecting or receiving
remuneration means that you will probably receive like consideration from
some other place later on. If you help someone get his car out of a ditch one
winter, you do not necessarily seek compensation for that. But the following
winter, you may get stuck in the ditch and someone will come along and give
you a hand. If you have provided a service or something of use to another
individual freely as a gift, it will come back. Those things are never lost.
If they do not come back in this lifetime, they will come back in another
where perhaps they will be more useful. Question: Then
if your friend did not want to incur this karmic debt and wanted to pay you
for it, what should you do? Answer: If
a person really wants to pay you for services rendered, let him. (07-1973) |
