Noninterference and Raising Your Child

One of the ten Lemurian Laws set forth in THE ULTIMATE FRONTIER (p. 134) is that no one has the right to interfere in the environment of another unless specifically asked to do so by that person. Richard was asked how this rule would apply in the relationship of parent to child, spouse to spouse, or close friend to close friend. He answered that parents are responsible for the welfare of their children until the children reach 2l years of age. To fulfill this responsibility, parents do have to work in the environment of their children—and have every right to do so—to insure that their offspring grow up as balanced as possible. If a child is not properly reared and later becomes a burden on society, his parents are karmically responsible for the situation. In relating to one’s spouse or close friend, however, Richard said that the closeness of the relationship does not sanction any more right for interference than in relating to people in general. Do Children Incur Karma from Being Raised?

Question:     Are children incurring karmic debts for taking what parents have given them?

Richard:       From the first day that a child is born and receives food and attention from you, he is incurring karmic debts. But he pays this off when he becomes a parent. There are times when you may support a child through a doctorate education, but generally, when he receives this type of education he develops special skills which he offers to mankind, and this puts him in a position to better earn karmic credits.
