How Could We Know Christ’s Appearance? Question: How
could we know Christ’s appearance? Artists’ conceptions of Him are extremely
varied, and we have no photographs of Him. Answer: Many
artists’ renderings of Christ which we see in churches and
illustrations in Bibles generally agree, but he wore his hair and
beard quite short. The most perfect likeness of
Christ was etched in intaglio on a ruby. We don’t
know the whereabouts of this precious work of art because whenever it has
appeared in history it has been swiftly bought by some wealthy individual and
secreted away again. Probably the most accurate picture of
Christ available to us was sketched by Kahlil
Gibran; and it can be found in This
Man From Lebanon, a biography of Gibran written by Barbara Young. (11-1971) |
