The Great White Brotherhood

Giving a definition of the Great White Brotherhood, Richard said that it consists of thirteen individuals, twelve of whom are the current heads of the twelve Brotherhoods. The Thirteenth member is always the Archangel Melchizedek, who presides at councils of the group. Each of the Brotherhoods is responsible for a specific work. Councils of the Great White Brotherhood are held to discuss and plan how certain programs for the advancement of mankind will be brought about and to assign and coordinate the work of the Brotherhoods. An example of Their work is the program for the establishment of the Kingdom of God, which is being brought about through the combined efforts of the Seven Lesser Brotherhoods.

A definition of the Order of Melchizedek was also requested. Richard said that every Ego who becomes a Master serves as head of His Brotherhood at least once for the experience to be gained. After a Master has held that position, he is thereafter a member of the Order of Melchizedek since He served on the Great White Brotherhood with Melchizedek. (09-1969)

The Brotherhoods are agents on Earth to carry out Christ’s plans and the decisions which are made by Christ and His council of the twelve Masters, each of Whom is head of the five Greater and seven Lesser Brotherhoods. This Council of Thirteen Egos, twelve Masters and one Archangel, is known as the Great White Brotherhood, and that is the only thing which the Brotherhoods refer to as the Great White Brotherhood.
