Did the Dead Sea Scrolls Change
the Bible?
Question: Did
the Dead Sea Scrolls change our ideas of the Old Testament?
Answer: It
just verified Isaiah. The community at Qumran
had an interesting concept that Christ, the Redeemer, was with them all the
time. Of course, this was hundreds of years before the time of His advent.
The Qumran community based some of its ideas
on the philosophy of the Essene school at En Gedi,
which was set up by Isaiah, but they were not moving
in the same direction as the Essenes. So we have the
writings of Isaiah being given entirely different interpretations of how they
should be applied to one’s life.
