An Overview of the Brotherhoods

I’d like to make a
presentation giving a refresher on a lot of the points about the
Brotherhoods: who They are, what They do, how They relate to us, how we can become
one; things of that nature. The Brotherhoods are made
up of men and women, and there are equal numbers. There are as many females
who are Initiates as males, as many Second Degree males as there are females;
same numbers of Third Degree females as there are males, and so it goes up
through the entire number of degrees of Brotherhoods. That equality has been
maintained by the Brotherhoods ever since they began which was some
21,000 years ago. Part of this is a matter of balance, but there is also a relationship
between the development of Egos just on a natural basis so that both
polarities [male and female] can be equally represented. The men and women who are part of the Brotherhoods started out just exactly like you and I. The Seven Lesser Brotherhoods are very much represented here on the planet among us all. They are all helping us, and, at the same time, not necessarily letting us know Who They are, because it’s not necessary that They do so: it can be dangerous for Them. But ,They are here working to assist us to also become Brothers, for once we become Initiates then we have all the basic tools necessary to move on to all the other planes of existence. There is not that much difference between a First Degree Brother and a person who has not yet become an Initiate but is perhaps soon to be. You aren’t elevated to an entirely different type of human being. You’re pretty much the same as you were before. The Brotherhoods recognize what it is that we’ve accomplished, and there are some basic things which They say are necessary in order to be regarded as an Initiate. From that point on, we can continue on our growth to Mastership, but with the assistance of many other people who have made it before us. Inasmuch as you have made the first major step into Initiation, They’re in a position to help you, and you then have a direct pipeline to information which you can rely on in order to move from where you are to the next step. There is regular support that is afforded by all those others who have achieved Initiation before you and are moving up to the second, Third, and Fourth degree, etc. Another thing that is so useful about it is that They’re giving you the next step; providing you with the information you need to make it to the next level of advancement. Why haven’t we heard about the Brotherhoods before? Why haven’t there been historical examples of individuals who are working specifically to do what it is that the Brotherhoods do? Well, because people who have been in positions of mundane power, such as priests, have regarded such individuals as being very dangerous to their positions. Somebody who seems to have special powers and can use them is pretty scary for individuals who are into controlling others by whatever means they can. In many cases, they are interested in their own self-aggrandizement rather than actually helping other people become freer, more intelligent, more aware of the truth and fully functioning as an individual who can make it in on their own from that point on rather than being dependent on some leader who exacts obeisance through fear. “You need me” or “You’d better be afraid of me” seem to be the two methods by which those who strive for mundane power try to control the rest of us. Their underground nature, I guess, is one of the things that has bothered many people about the Brotherhoods for a long time. If they have so much to offer, why don’t they come out in the open? Well, that is dangerous to them, because They become targets of nether entities: individuals who are discarnate spirits that are striving to manipulate mankind in ways which are essentially destructive to mankind, to enslave them in various ways, and to make them obedient to their control through things like obsession and possession.
And, there are many other individuals, too, who are not yet on the spirit plane but are on the physical plane who strive to control others through mentalistic means; principally through what I prefer to call telepathic hypnosis, wherein the individual is not able to guard against the influences of some other entity who is controlling them through hypnotic means, mainly because they’re unaware of it. That’s one of the things that Melchizedek helped to protect us against, by setting up a barrier between the Astral Plane and people who are in physical incarnation so they could not be unknowingly influenced by those nether spirit entities on the Astral. That doesn’t men that you, as a person who is incarnate, can’t consciously seek to contact such individuals who are on the spirit level, because you can. But if a person isn’t aware that such things are happening, he can be manipulated all the more easily. So, that guarantee was set up for us during the first forty days that Christ was here on Earth, using the body of Jesus right after the baptism by John the Baptist. The Brotherhoods never ever try to manipulate anybody through hypnotic means or through spirit-type manipulations. It’s against their rules altogether. But nether entities, even knowing that it’s karmically disastrous will do it anyway. They have a desire to undermine the work of the Brotherhoods. These nether entities, incarnate and discarnate, seem to have a basic hatred against mankind being free and able to pursue the truth as they wish. They wish to demean that; make them afraid; diminish them in all sorts of ways. And, through the institutions they’ve managed to control over the centuries, they do manage very, very effectively to instill fear in people: to make us feel guilty about things which we should not feel guilty about; to make us feel like we’re losers; that our destiny is hell rather than Heaven; and by various techniques through the present-day institutions, manage very effectively to overcome the efforts of the Brotherhoods to uplift man and put him into his full rights as established by God. We are supposed to be happy and are supposed to have the means by which to accomplish what it is that we would like to do to improve our lot and the lot of our children and our neighbors.
The Brotherhoods really are the Comforters that were spoken of by
Christ when He was here 2000 years ago. They are the Saints. And indeed, a
person is not likely to be regarded as a Saint in any religion in the world
unless he does have the abilities and powers of a Brother. In many cases, the
person they decided was a Saint was indeed a Brother. The Brotherhoods and the
Holy Spirit are essentially one and the same. There are a few people who were
mistakenly given the category of Saints mainly because they were martyrs in
the early church. But, they did not gain that distinction on the basis of
their personal powers but rather because they died in service of the church
in forwarding its purposes. But, those who are part of the Holy Spirit and
those who experience the so-called Communion of Saints (that is, the ability
to deal with one another wherever they may be, incarnate or discarnate, at
anyplace on the planet) have the means by which to communicate with one
another, and that is the Communion of Saints which all Brothers are part of. We have a whole body of knowledge which has been preserved by the Brotherhoods. And indeed, most people who have gotten involved in pursuing the Truth usually find themselves pretty much on the edges of the sciences and trying to understand what really is so and what does and does not work. What are the laws of Nature which were established by God, and by extension and observation establishing what God’s Laws are in areas where it is not particularly as obvious, such as gravity, or how light operates, for instance.
But rather, the Brotherhoods focus on
matters regarding human affairs, such as the laws of karma and garnering
information to help all of mankind live in accordance with those laws, so we
don’t find ourselves running afoul of them. In the process of learning these
scientific truths and living a practical philosophy based on those truths,
the Brotherhoods have become known as scientist-philosophers. Indeed, They’ve
preserved much information on a technical basis from prior incarnations in
other civilizations. The Brotherhoods have saved all of this information for
our further use, and it is recorded. However, They do not just distribute it
with great largesse, throwing leaflets from airplanes or to just anybody
walking down the street. A person has to show that he’s truly interested in
using such information and wanting to profit within his own experience of
life using these laws and this information, and incidentally, in helping
other people forward their understanding of what’s going on actually in the
Universe. So, that’s one of the levels of Truth the Brotherhoods are very much
concerned with. And, it’s a very practical level as well. But it probably
would not have served us if in the Middle Ages somebody gave all of the
necessary formulas for creating an H‑bomb or that the Brotherhoods have
the means of extracting energy directly from space—and everything is permeated
by space—or maybe it’s the other way around. But, there are ways of extracting
energy, useful energy, in ways other than burning fuels or using atomic
energy, even solar energy. They say They have this information, but They
haven’t seen fit to give it to the world at this particular point. Hopefully,
They are going to do that before the cataclysms, because we depend on it very
much. Through some individual, someplace in the world, that information is
going to be made available. These individuals who are scientist-philosophers and who have achieved initiation in the Brotherhoods—I guess we can refer to them as Saints—how different are they from our regular neighbors? How would you distinguish them by looking at them or seeing them walking and talking with other people? You couldn’t. They are just the same in appearance as all the rest of us. They have families. They have jobs. They relate to their friends and neighbors in the same way, generally, that you and I do. Perhaps more consistently in a kindly and considerate manner, but not so overtly as to appear goody-goody or somehow saintly.
What happens to
us? What is the difference? What really occurs when, say, any one of you here
in the audience should finally be regarded as having met the requirements for
Brotherhood and go through the initiation ceremony? What happens to you?
Well, you know that somebody has recognized what you have achieved. But,
that’s all that happens. There’s no difference between you before the
ceremony and after the ceremony, because what They have done is recognize
what you have done. They haven’t given you anything. They never give you
anything; They just recognize what you have achieved. It’s a natural
progression of human growth to learn all there is to know of this physical
plane of existence, and then go on to learn everything there is to know of
the next two planes of existence and finally achieve Mastership, wherein you
function primarily on the Fourth, or Mental Plane of Existence thereafter
until you achieve Angelic advancement. That’s an important point
to get across to people that They are really not super human to the extent
you feel that They are directly agents of God. We all are agents of God.
Hopefully, we use it wisely. The Brotherhoods have a little advantage in that
They’ve developed Themselves to the point that They do it more consistently
in a positive direction. But, They’re heir to human mistakes. Even Adepts who
don’t have to incarnate anymore but come into incarnation sometimes are faced
with very difficult situations. Sometimes the decisions They make about those
situations which have to be made on the spot turn out not to be the wisest
way of going in the long run, because They didn’t perceive, as They might
possibly have, all of the ramifications of Their decision. Sometimes karmic
things come up as a result of it that They didn’t want to initiate, but a
decision had to be made now, and quickly. But, that is a fact that as we do
become more evolved, more intelligent, more aware of all of the factors that
influence human affairs, we tend to be wiser and more astute in the decisions
that we make. So, there’s something to be said for moving up the ladder of the
various degrees of Brotherhood.
Of the thirteen billion
Egos who are associated with this planet, approximately a billion have made
it at one time or another to initiation. Most of those individuals are
hesitant to incarnate into our present-day civilizations mainly because even
though we are getting to be pretty technically advanced in the past fifty
years, we’re still incredibly warlike. We haven’t yet learned how to control
our human emotions very well, mainly because the examples that we see day by
day in society teaches us other ways of doing things which are not very
uplifting. And, we do tend to be very much influenced by our society and the
institutions around us. That is one of the things that the Brotherhoods are
trying to change. But of those billion initiates, about a million of
them incarnated onto the North American continent beginning about eighty years
ago for the express purpose of taking part in the establishment of the Nation
of God, which is referred to in the Bible as the
The immediate purpose of the
Nation of God is to act as a peace corps for all the people in the world
after the next rearrangement of the continents, which has been occurring with
fair regularity since mankind was evolved. Every 7,000 to 20,000 years, the
Earth seems to go through another one of these situations where continents
sink and sea bottoms rise and everything changes. Not everything, but most everything
changes in appearance on the Earth, and mankind is thrown back into periods
of stone age. But, in this particular instance coming, the Brotherhoods, under
the guidance of Melchizedek, the Archangel we know as Christ, will form a
more rapid way of getting things back to a state somewhat similar to what the
United States has had during the past 200 years. They, hopefully, will teach everybody the
same language so we can have communication with one another that’s more
perfect than what’s available today, because of the thousands of languages
which are spoken, and to have a philosophy of living which is based on the
truths which have been garnered by the Brotherhoods. Those million Egos who
have incarnated into
The Great Virtues is one of
the principal means that Westerners have used in order to help get themselves
back on the proper track. All of us are born with the ability to be
clairvoyant, which is one of the requirements of Initiation. But, our present
society, through not giving concurrence to children and to others who
experience it, actually cause people to forget it, put it out of their
thinking because it sounds insane to them. Other people regard it as
insane to have a person claim that they’re able to see Egos who are
discarnate on other planes of existence; to be aware of spirits and what
they’re doing around them; and to see the character advancement of individuals
they encounter through perceiving their Astral aura, which carries a message
of what that person’s fine points are and some of their weak spots through
the colors that are in their aura. But, in their ability to see what goes on
as clairvoyants, they will be able to assist other people in helping
themselves and to have a true awareness of what really is going on around them.
We need those million individuals to be alerted to the fact that there are
Brotherhoods. Indeed, many of them have never heard of them, know nothing
of their operation, know not why They are here to help because they just
haven’t been alerted to it. In many cases, just finding out about the
Brotherhoods seems to ring a bell with those individuals who have been
initiated before and indeed sets them on another path. That’s quite exciting
when you see that happen. That again is one of the things that Adelphi is
charged with doing: bringing that information to people so that they can at
least be aware of who the Brotherhoods are, what They’re trying to
accomplish, and by what means They hope to do it.
The Great Virtues seem to be one of the ways people in the West have of getting back to a realization of what they’re able to do and what they should be able to do, because clairvoyance seems to just come about naturally with an elevation of one’s character. In many cases, our personalities, as we express things today, are just a lot of bad habits learned from observing everything that goes on around us. The Great Virtues are a way of consciously being aware of better ways of doing things and going about changing the habits that we’ve learned and to change them to better ways, all of which elevate our characters and makes it possible for us to have a natural mental perception, because then we are able to operate on a higher vibrational level of things which are of a mental nature on other planes. All of these perceptions are Mind to Mind.
When you are clairvoyant, you are picking up the activities of others with your Mind. It’s a kind of Mind dowsing, as it were, or of being on the same wavelength and allowing those perceptions to be accepted and to be encouraged more and more so that they come through more naturally. The Great Virtues is not the only means that we have at our disposal to get at these better things, because in many cases we do have to get rid of neurotic tendencies which are blocking our brain activity and get into a mode which permits these natural powers to emerge. Because we do have these powers; they’re just inherent in our having a human Mind. The culture’s mores and the cultural beliefs are the things which seem to block it. We can overcome those things which means this is not really difficult, although it does require some persistence and thinking about it. That’s how we get to be recognized as being legitimate as Brothers. The Brothers judge us and recognize us and bring us through that initiation ceremony.
Now, there are twelve Brotherhoods. Five of them are the so-called Greater Brotherhoods, who are made up entirely of Masters and who rarely function on the physical plane. They are concerned with higher levels of activities relative to the human Life-Wave, mostly to protect mankind from nether influences, helping do the kinds of things Angels do when they first started out working with us, and that really are beyond most people’s perception of what’s happening. You probably heard most of the names associated with the Seven Lesser Brotherhoods, and They’re headed by a Master or Masters, and have many Adepts among Their number. Also, there are many individuals who are just Initiates and Second, Third and Fourth Degree, up through Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh, before they become Adepts. Their job is to help directly on the physical plane to get man to move in the directions that they want to go, not by controlling men, but by forming the means of getting the information that man needs and to provide a backup in the form of teaching facilities.
Each of these has headquarters someplace
here on the planet, which is not a big headquarters. In other
words, there aren’t hundreds of people involved in them. The first one which
we presently call the Lemurian Brotherhood was established about 21,000 years
ago in Atlantis. It was based on Lemurian Laws and Lemurian concepts which
They were trying to re-instill in Atlantis. They are the ones who have
maintained a continuous history of what various cultures have accomplished on
the planet. They’ve assembled the information of what is necessary to make a
civilization and the kinds of things which have been introduced into a
civilization that are going to lead to its downfall. Therefore, They have a
lot of very valuable information to bring to bear on the formation of the
Nation of God.
The last of the Seven Lesser Brotherhoods came into existence about 5,000 years ago. Each has their own special mystery which seems to appeal to different individuals. Everybody has to have some means by which their attention can be grabbed. If you talk of Brotherhood and high spiritual principles and so forth to a highly practical individual, he’s probably going to say, “Yeah, that’s nice,” but it somehow doesn’t really move them. Whereas some of the other Brotherhoods may particularly appeal to teaching him more about mathematics, teaching him more practical ways of accomplishing things which are very useful to mankind. And, he is interested in those kinds of things, so he is drawn into a group which promotes those things. But, once They have his attention, They can start teaching about the other things with the hope of eventually bringing him back to balance. The oldest of the Lesser Brotherhoods, the Lemurian Brotherhood, has Balance as its mystery. That is its main object: to move everyone gradually from the extremes of very impractical and very unspiritual towards this center of balance. Indeed, all through the time that all the Brotherhoods were existent, all ceremonies of induction into the Fourth Degree and higher are always done by the oldest of the Seven Lesser Brotherhoods. The first three degrees were done by the individual Brotherhood that originally attracted that individual through their mundane schools.
Now,
the mundane schools are not necessarily the same name as the Brotherhoods
themselves. I may as well give the name of the seven schools. You have the Rosicrucians, and their mystery that they teach is Practicality. There are
the Hermetics, whose mystery is Precision. The Luciferians, which is the
Brotherhood behind the Freemasons, teach Efficiency. Masons, as you know, go
back to the day of constructing the
So as you can see, there
are different types of people and different schools which are designed to
attract those different personality types. There are mundane schools
originally founded by emissaries from each of these Brotherhoods. And, the
This is leading
to what has become a new renaissance, or a renewal, or continuation of the
renaissance which occurred during the Thirteenth, Fourteenth, and up to the
Fifteenth Centuries in Italy and then continuing with the reformation of
religious ideas in the rest of Europe. This has produced a return to learning of classical
civilization; a renewal of searching out what is true in the world; a study
of Nature; and a study of man, much of which was very strongly opposed by the
established Church mainly because it punched so many holes in some of the
beliefs that were represented in the Bible. Not so much beliefs in the
Bible, but theological interpretations of what was in the Bible, that were
found out not to be true. When actual experiments were done, even some of
the things that were adopted as being Aristotelian truths didn’t hold up in
the light of actual facts—even Aristotle was being attacked. That created quite a foment
in the affairs of mankind for quite a long time. Things have settled down as
of recent years, but now there is this new renaissance, and this new
renaissance is being backed by the Brotherhoods just as the one in the middle-teens centuries was backed by the Brotherhoods in order to get mankind back
to technological competence as well as religious and spiritual freedom so
that people can truly grow rather than being quashed by the methods of the
Church to instill fear and obedience, and to their ideas which were really not
uplifting man, but keeping him down and in line more than anything else.
There are many things that the
Brotherhoods have done since Melchizedek personally established each of the
Brotherhoods. He’s very much involved in making sure that mankind moves
forward as rapidly as possible. As a matter of fact, the Lesser Brotherhoods were
all organized by
Melchizedek. Each one has as part of its overall ideas to provide the
facilities for instructing worthy candidates who are aspiring to human
perfection. Another point is that They have garnered all knowledge of all the
truths of existence. Not that a Second or Third Degree Brother happens to
know all those, but Masters know all those. And, They’re able to pass that
information along. They have preserved a continuous history of mankind,
dating back to the beginning of the civilization which we today we call the Lemurian
today. They have analyzed the causes for the successes and failures of
all the cultures of the planet. They were all involved with preparing a way
for the development of the Kingdom of God. The Brotherhoods really are
kind of agents on Earth that carry out Christ’s plans and the decisions which
are made by Christ and His council of the twelve Masters, each of Whom is
the head of the five Greater and seven Lesser Brotherhoods. The Council of
Thirteen Egos, twelve Masters and one Archangel, is known as the Great White
Brotherhood, and that is the only thing which the Brotherhoods refer to as
the Great White Brotherhood. And of course, They help to guide and protect
mankind in indirect, but nevertheless, very important, ways.
So what does that mean to
you? What are you supposed to do about this? Does it relate to anything that
you think you can do or attach yourself to? Do you want to join the work of
the Brotherhoods? Of course, the only way you can join the Work of the
Brotherhoods is by belonging to some organization which is part of the
Brotherhoods. All of us can work on things which are nice for mankind, to
help uplift other people, but the only way you work for the Brotherhoods
directly is when you are working for Them and in association with some organization
which is directly related to it. Therein, if you make that kind of commitment
to help directly in the work that They’re trying to have accomplished for
mankind, you get special assistance, special protection. Of course, you’re
still always entitled to that protection from the Archangelic Host against
incursion of other entities unknowingly trying to influence you from the
Astral Plane. But there are times when we need other kinds of protections
against things which are occurring on the physical plane. The Brotherhoods do
protect Their own. They can’t do everything, but They sure can help. But, it
requires a commitment on your part. It’s nice to talk about the Brotherhoods
and inform other people about them, sound somewhat knowledgeable about the Brotherhoods
and what They do and who some of these people were in the past, but you’re
not doing anything yet directly for them or directly involved with them. And,
it’s people who need to help other people. The Brotherhoods simply do not do
that. They can’t. They cannot interfere. They cannot do for us that which we
can do for ourselves. Even those who are already Second or Third Degree, or a
Fifth Degree Brother, cannot do for that individual that which he must learn
to do for himself, because then he doesn’t grow; he becomes dependent. We
must all be able to operate as free individuals having the will to make
decisions that God gave us and the knowledge and the intelligence to make our
wills conform with the laws that God has set down, because those are the ones
which bring us the greatest benefit in the long run. Although it allows us
total free choice, some things we have total free choice about we choose
not to do because it’s going to be painful in the long run.
There are a few who have
been famous Brothers, but the vast majority are unknown and are unrecorded in
history. Or if they are recorded in history, it’s not because they were
Brothers, but because of some other good thing that they did which made them
famous. But, for the most part, the Brothers work in obscurity. They find they
can get a great deal more done that way. They very frequently function
through others by encouraging them to do the things that they should do to
help them grow towards becoming a Brother themselves. There are many Initiates
who are in the roles of philosophers and businessmen, doing things in
accordance with God’s Laws and informing people of things they need to know
about in order to move forward. Not in ways where they seek to appear
saintly or godlike or have mystical powers, but just straightforward types of
human interactions. But, always kindly, always seeming to have time enough for
each individual who needs help. And, They are incredibly efficient compared to
the vast majority of us, which is why They get so much done.
Brothers are somewhat directly involved in the fact that
They
answer prayer for us. We may pray to Christ or pray to God, but it is not
necessary to have either one of those two exalted individuals to actually do
the answering of prayer. When there is something that you need, you pray for
it because it’s something which is beyond your ability. If you need
protection or you see something which is worthy for general conditions in the
world, Brothers will help. They won’t just drop money into your wallet
because you need to have the wherewithal to accomplish something worthwhile,
but They do give you information, and They do very frequently operate on the
Astral Plane to set things up in such a way that makes your path easier.
Sometimes they set it up so that it makes it difficult because you have a
lesson to learn, and They want to be sure you learn it. But for the most
part, They are out there helping in whatever ways They can. You may pray to
have a great job that you want, but really, that’s more or less precipitation
on your part. But, They can help set up things so that the right person who
would be interested in giving you a job happens to call you or comes across
your path in some way.
They very frequently conspire in some very strange and unobvious ways to allow information that you need to just come to you in very natural ways. They might influence a person who is reading a book or magazine with information that you need. They don’t want the magazine anymore; and normally they would say, “I’ll take this with me and throw it in the trash.” But somehow, they’re influenced by the Brothers to say, “I’ll put it on the chair here” that is alongside you. You happen to pick it up just to have something to read, and that’s just the piece of information that you were looking for. That’s not an uncommon situation. It might inspire you in a way which doesn’t interfere with anything. For example, to tune in to a radio program when otherwise you might not have done so in order to pick up some information which is just an answer to something you have been looking for. Those are ways by which They subtly help. They always do it in ways so as not to raise the hair on the back of your neck, that don’t want to seem spooky. They do provide us with information, and they check up on us, look to see if we’re using it and using it wisely, and if not They get together some more information.
So what do Brothers do? Okay. Now, you’re assigned as a Brother. You’ve made it to that point. Now what do you do? Well, you work within a hierarchy. People who have more spiritual advancement and higher abilities, greater mentality, they are the ones who direct you in doing what is needed to be done and can be done at your level of advancement. You are assigned jobs to do which you may reject or accept. You might say, “I can’t handle that one,” or “That would interfere with my family too much,” or “That’s just what I was looking for. I can do that. Somehow, I’ll find the time or the knowledge to do it, because it needs to be done.” Afterward, you are expected to fulfill what it is you agreed to do, because there’s no sense in assigning two people to do the same thing; there’s so much that They have to do. They have hardly enough people in incarnation who are aware of the Brotherhoods’ Work who are willing to work with them either as Brothers or as assistants to an Initiate someplace.
It is quite disciplined. You do all of the things that you’re supposed to do, or else you are removed from your position as being a Brother. You may still have the same abilities, but They’ll say, “I’m sorry; you’ve done things that do not qualify you to remain in the Brotherhood because they are against the rules.” So there is a discipline which is involved.
So you say, “Okay, that sounds like good work. What do I have to do? How do I apply?” Well, you have to develop a balance within yourself where mentality, practicality, and ideality are to become a balance rather than, say, being very practical; spiritual things don’t matter to you. Or you’re extremely spiritual and practical things don’t matter to you. You can’t get along very well in a very balanced way in the world if you have a lack of balance between practicality and ideality. Some people substitute the term ideality for spirituality, but I prefer the term, “ideality.” You have to be emotionally balanced and psychologically mature. You can’t have people who are fanatics in some way trying to do the Brotherhoods’ Work because it isn’t going to work. It’s going to be trouble to Them. You have to have what they call Cosmic Consciousness, which is a combination of controlled clairvoyance plus mystic awareness. That is a method of having all parts of the brain work together so that you can perceive the Universe in a different way than one which just the digitally functioning system of the cortex permits. Being able to see what’s going on on other planes as well as put the Universe, as you see it, together in an entirely unique way compared to the rest of us. It allows you to have a tremendous perception of what the cosmos is about, which is why they call it cosmic consciousness. There is kind of a Christ Consciousness that goes along with that. Christ Consciousness is a term which really essentially means having a truly loving nature and perceiving all your fellows in the proper perspective. You can’t have any negative karma. And, of course, in order to be able to do something, your mind and body have to be healthy and capable of accomplishing work for the Brotherhoods.
Those are the basic requirements. They have never changed since the very first persons were adopted into Initiation into the first Brotherhood. Every requirement has remained identical and has never increased or decreased. And, that’s just for Initiation. From that point on, there is more you have to learn. There is a ceremony which is something you have no question about, because it occurs while you’re awake and also conscious of what’s going on on the Astral Plane. The ceremony is essentially a question-and-answer session. They already know you know the answers, otherwise, They wouldn’t have called you to have the ceremony. They’ll ask for a commitment on your part; if you’re willing to become a part of the Brotherhoods. They explain what the Brotherhoods require, what your part should be, and you must agree. At that point, you are given recognition by being granted Initiation, recognition of what you have already accomplished on your own. And, of course, if you have some idea what’s required in order to become an Initiate, then you can aim your life toward those goals more intelligently rather than just stumbling around, hoping something is going to turn out right.
I think that is a fair overview of the Brotherhoods.
